English 9 Resource is an adaptation of the mainstream English I College Prep curriculum. This course is a full year course surveying major literary genres.  This course studies the drama, epic poetry, essay, novel, poetry and a short story genre, helps students identify the unique elements inherent in each, builds critical thinking skills and strengthens writing and oral responses to literature. Composition integral to critical thinking with emphases on point of view and accurate logical expression of ideas is stressed.  Group discussion, grammar, oral defense of work, technology infusion, career research, and SAT vocabulary also form an inherent part of this course.  After successful completion of this course, the student will earn five credits toward graduation requirements.
